A while later (probably after reading a thread here) I tried it again and then everything clicked. When I first played the game that's what I thought too and I quit playing it. It sounds like people are still expecting a different gameplay from Vanquish and don't realize it's more of an arcade type of game rather than the typical TPS. The controls take a bit of getting used to, but that's not the problem. It sounds like a lot of people just didn't understand the mechanics of Vanquish based on the games they're comparing it to. I honestly can't think of any else like it, but the controls actually work really well for the type of game it is. Its no different than the learning curve people had with their first 2D game or FPS. The controls are a learning curve at first, but only because they (and the gameplay) aren't a typical TPS. Those are the basic mechanics of the game and if you do can get that down, then you shouldn't have the problems you listed and should be getting head shots or hitting weak points all the time.
